چکیده

Productive agricultural areas in Kebumen, Central Java, Indonesia are potentially vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change. We surveyed small-scale farmers assess change-related perceptions and adaptations agriculture sector. The majority respondents agreed that there were changes climatological variables affecting their farming activities, especially terms precipitation temperature. However, results also revealed only 13% believed human activities play a significant role. Three forms have been developed by farmers, namely: (1) diversification, (2) intensification, (3) socioeconomic adaptation. Changing crops more climate-tolerant varieties was one most common diversification practices (implemented 88% farmers). Most tried maintain productivity adjusting local planting calendar 94% use machinery intensify practice an uncommon strategy 30% farmers) because expensive maintenance small cultivation areas. suggested importance increasing farmers’ knowledge technological know-how related change its implications, developing effective adaptation mitigation efforts, constructing climate-resilient infrastructure

Climate change in Australia: agricultural impacts and adaptation

The rate and extent of warming, along with impacts on rainfall distributions, are key determinants of agricultural impacts and will affect the success of adaptation strategies. The likely gradual unfolding of climate change should provide farmers in many regions and industries with sufficient time to utilise or develop adaptation strategies. Many of these strategies are likely to be based on fa...

Genetic Variation of Cytochrome b Gene in Three Local Goat Breeds in Central Java of Indonesia

This study was conducted to elucidate the genetic diversity and phylogenic relationship of three local goat breeds in Central Java of Indonesia based on the cytochrome b (cyt b) gene sequence. Blood samples of 19, 15 and 12 heads of Kacang, Kejobong and Ettawa Grade breeds, respectively, were used as materials of the study. The multiple alignment of cyt b gene was conducted by comparing under s...

How limiting factors drive agricultural adaptation to climate change

Consensus is growing that agriculture is vulnerable to climate change and adaptation responses are necessary to minimize impacts. Nonetheless, the diversity of potential impacts, agro-ecological contexts and regional capacity for change make understanding adaptation behaviors challenging and ensure that climate change adaptation will not be the same across all contexts. Considering this heterog...
